IS THE DENTAL IMPLANT PROCESS PAINFUL?

Posted on

A major concern for many of our dental implant patients is the possible pain associated with a surgical procedure. While pain can vary widely from patient to patient. It is often reported that our patients find the procedure much less painful than expected.

Dr. Emmanuel Taylor and the team will walk YOU through the implant procedure and recovery. We will make sure you feel comfortable while in our care!

Are Dental Implants More Painful than Other Tooth Replacement Options?

Unlike other tooth-replacement methods such as bridges or dentures, dental implants require surgery and a healing process. While some patients may be concerned by the prospect of surgery, we can assure you that the short and long-term benefits of a dental implant far outweigh the temporary discomfort while you recover. Additionally, once healed, dental implants act like natural teeth.

Dental Implant Surgery & Recovery

There are two parts to consider when thinking about the dental implant procedure. The first part is surgery and certainly, IV sedation is available at Tuscarawas Oral Surgery and Implant Center.

After surgery comes recovery. Most of our patients note that an over-the-counter pain medication such as Tylenol or Ibuprofen is more than capable of managing any tenderness you may feel following surgery.

During recovery, it is extremely important to follow any instructions our surgical team has provided, as well as any advice on at-home maintenance to support your speedy recovery.
